BBC Africa digital service aims to deliver our journalism in a lively and engaging fashion, with a focus on interactivity and the promotion of content on social media and across all platforms. As one of our video journalist you’ll have a crucial role in leading our engagement with the audience.
We are now looking for a creative, versatile and digital minded journalist who fully understands how video is consumed on digital platforms. This role will be based in Lagos and will sit alongside a team of talented multimedia producers and journalists.
We are looking for a creative and experienced journalist with an excellent understanding of what makes brilliant digital video.
In this role you will be shoot editing and producing engaging and innovating video content. You will also re-version BBC material for BBC Africa social media and digital platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and our BBC website.
You will research and produce stories, create headlines and video teasers and show visual creativity in the use of pictures and graphics to illustrate and explain fast-moving events and complex stories.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be an experienced journalist from a newsroom environment. You will have experience in video production, editing , shoot- edit and storytelling with an in-depth knowledge of digital and social platforms.
Demonstrable experience of using video editing software is essential (FCPX would be a distinct advantage). First class writing and translation skills are required, together with sound knowledge of news and current affairs globally as well as in Africa.
